Welcome to the North Penn High School Knight of Sound

Abington Suits Up For the 2008 KOS

THANK YOU!

Wow!  So many people worked so very long and hard to pull together plans for the Knight of Sound...... then some rain, a little mud at the last minute... but still.....you pulled it off!!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible.  There were a lot of changes to our plans. Many people had to change their own personal plans for the day. There was certainly a lot more last-minute "running around" than any of us wanted in order to move refreshments and fundries from the stadium to the turf field (and then back again at the end of the evening) but to the kids, the judges, the other band directors, and the audience... it was a great show!

When it was clear that we would not be able to pick everything up and move to another school, we spent a lot of time looking at the weather and debating moving everything indoors. In the end, it boiled down to "what would the kids want?"  With this being the first competition of the season, we felt that the kids would really want the chance to move on a field, to show off the marching, flag, saber and rifle work they have all been practicing.

So thank you for all of the work that went into the evening.  Thank you for making the evening a success!

For over ten years the Knight of Sound competition has served as the kickoff event of the marching band season. This year's performance will be held on September 13, 2008 at North Penn High School's Crawford Stadium.  Gates open at 4:30PM with opening ceremony at 5:15PM.

Come join us as over thirteen bands march and play it out for awards in music, choreography, percussion and more.  It is a first chance to see which bands are the ones to watch out for.

For parents, a place to learn more about marching band as a youth activity.  The discipline, the music education, the extended family culture and oh yes.. fun bus rides to compete for huge trophies in very large stadiums.

Dozens of brightly colored, flashlight wielding parents will guide you to parking and the spacious Crawford Stadium.  Close handicap parking is available.

Admission is $10 ($7 for students and seniors) with ability to come and go with hand stamp.

The North Penn Music Aides parent organization will be selling refreshments and NPMK sportswear.

We look forward to seeing you!
